The brass frame "Navy Type" revolvers are identified with the Confederate manufacturersGriswold & Gunnison, and Leech & Rigdon. Brass was used for the framesbecause of the scarcity of iron in the United States. They were modeled after ColtNavys and feature a blued 7-1/2" octagon barrel. This 6-shot single active revolverwas one of the most widely used.
